Statesboro man charged with sexual assault

A man is being held without bond at the Bulloch County Jail on sexual battery charges.

Deputies with the Bulloch County Sheriff's Office were notified on June 9 of an sexual assault in the Cedarwood Acres mobile home park.

A young adult female told deputies that she had been sexually assaulted by a man she know who lived in Cedarwood Acres. The victim was treated for her injuries and a sexual assault examination was conducted.

The victim and James Venson Bazemore, 46, had visited several counties throughout the area together on June 9, according to the sheriff's office.

Investigators determined the sexual assault occurred in a wooded area on Mud Road near Arcola Road. Physical evidence was collected and interviews were conducted as part of the investigation.

Bazemore was arrested by deputies on Tuesday and taken to the Bulloch County Jail. He is charged with one count of rape, one count of sodomy, one count of sexual battery and one count of providing false statements to investigators.
