Men injured when RV, dump truck collide

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Two men were injured when a truck and recreational vehicle collided at about 11 a.m. Wednesday at Ogeechee Road and 37th Street.

Savannah-Chatham Metro Police said James Jerome Palmer, 56, of Garden City was driving a blue 2012 Freightliner dump truck southbound on the 37th Street Connector and came to a stop at Ogeechee Road.

Earl Leon Luke, 68, of Savannah, was driving a white 1999 Endeavor RV motor home that hit dump truck that was stopped at Ogeechee Road, accorind to police.

The front end of the motor home collapsed around Luke in the crash. Savannah firefighters had to extricated him from the RV. The streets were closed in all directions for about two hours.

Luke was taken admitted to Memorial University Medical Center in serious condition. Palmer was admitted to the hospital in stable condition.

SCMPD's Major Accident Investigation Team is investigating the collision.
