Folks celebrate National Go Skateboarding Day in Bluffton

BLUFFTON, SC (WTOC) -
It's a day to celebrate for skateboarding enthusiasts and they are doing it in style. Thursday is Go Skateboarding Day and it's being held all over the country. At the skate park in Bluffton, there were some skateboarders taking advantage of the beautiful day. Matthew Anderson and Christian Brown say they spend hours at the skate park having fun and trying to get better at the sport.

"My friends were here and we took bikes and went up the ramps and jumped," said Matthew Anderson, Bluffton.

"Sometimes a lot of kids and teenagers come out  here and we saw this kid the other day, he was doing a bunch of cool tricks," said Christian Brown, Bluffton.

Go Skateboarding Day is  held on June 21 every year and it is the official holiday of skateboarding. The holiday started in 2003 as an excuse for skateboarders to make skateboarding their top priority. Go Skateboarding Day began with a few simple skate sessions and BBQ events held in skateboarding's unofficial capital, southern California.
