The area's traditional annual military leadership transitions have begun. First up, Hunter's Coast Guard Air Station Savannah, where, in a ceremony presided over by Miami-based Rear-Admiral William Baumgartner, Commander of the Coast Guard's Seventh District, Air Station Commander Tim Tobiasz relinquished unit command to Commander Greg Fuller. Concluding his two-year tour in Savannah, Commander Tobiasz heads now to Harvard University for a prestigious post-graduate research fellowship.
Next, at the Army's 3/160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment, also stationed here at Hunter, veteran "Night Stalker" Command Sergeant-Major Estevan SotoRosado transitioned to his next assignment as CSM for the aviation AIT Battalion at Fort Eustis in Virginia, as new Command Sergeant-Major Todd Hedrick assumed top enlisted leadership responsibilities for Savannah's "Night Stalkers."
Then, on Thursday, Colonel-Promotable Robert White became the 3rd ID's Deputy Commanding General for Support, as the current "S," Colonel-Promotable Chris Hughes moves up to the Deputy Commanding General for Maneuver position, while COL John Hort will serve as Deputy Commanding General-Rear Detachment, rounding-out Division Commander, Major-General Robert "Abe" Abrams top command staff, prior to his Headquarters deployment to Afghanistan at summer's end.
