The Greenbriar Children's Center campus is expanding and workers are making room in their hearts for more children. Yesterday, they officially opened their new dormitory for girls. The building which will house young women is 5,100 square feet, fully equipped with a kitchen, media center and living room, as well as eight beautifully decorated bedrooms for 14 girls.
This is the first new building to open at Greenbriar in 40 years. "We're always having a waiting list for girls, so this facility will fill up very fast," said executive director Gena Taylor. "We'll continue to provide services in the old cottage because there's just a need for that."
With the new building, Greenbriar will be able to serve a total of 44 boys and girls on campus. The girls are expected to move in the first week of June.
