Stolen sailboat ends up in home's swimming pool

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC (WTOC) -

On Wednesday, a woman discovered a sailboat in the swimming pool of the Lowcountry home she's renting, the Island Packet reports.

The 14-foot Hobie Wave sailboat had been stolen from a Hilton Head Island beach and ended up in the pool of a Dune Lane home.

The renter also found several hundred dollars worth of property damage to the home.

The sailboat owner, who was notified by the sheriff's office that the boat had been stolen, said the boat was kept at the beach tethered to a cinder block buried four feet in the sand.
