McIntosh sheriff's deputy injured in wreck

MCINTOSH CO., GA (WTOC) - The commander of the McIntosh County Sheriff's Office traffic unit is in a hospital with serious injuries after an early-morning wreck.

Lt. Kenny Williams, 73, was on his way to work about 3:30 a.m. when he lost control of his patrol car on Cox Highway near Heron Bridge Road. The car went about 30 yards into a swamp before slamming into a tree.

Williams has been with the McIntosh County Sheriff's Office since the 1980s. His fellow deputies say although his injuries are grave, they expect him to survive.
