A Savannah family gathered over the weekend to remember their wife and mother with a benefit in her honor. Last month, Gloria Peloquin was shot and killed in broad daylight in a busy shopping center parking lot at the intersection of Montgomery Cross Road and Waters Avenue. Police believe Peloquin was trying to escape a robbery attempt.
Peloquin's family and friends gathered Sunday night at Tubby's Tank House in Thunderbolt for a concert on her behalf. The money raised will be put into a memorial fund for her children and grandchildren.
"Thank you so much for your donation, your love, your concern," said coordinator Jan Spillane. "This just doesn't go out from me. All the love from the community."
Earlier this month, police arrested 16-year-old Kareem Petty and charged him with Peloquin's murder. He is currently awaiting trial in the Chatham County Youth Detention Center.
