Onion Committee Manager Facing Charges

A woman hired to help farmers make more money is now accused of stealing from them. Tina Wheeler, the former manager of the Vidalia Onion Committee, turned herself over to Vidalia police Monday. Officers say she stole more than $600,000 from their cooperative.

A bond hearing was held this morning. A Toombs County judge has set bond at $1.2 million for Wheeler.

Wheeler left the job in March when the investigation began. She's currently in jail facing more than 300 charges of theft, forgery and preparing false statements.
