Kroger customers “Round-Up’ more than $231,000 for U.S. Troops

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Kroger customers in the Atlanta Division, which includes Georgia, South Carolina, eastern Tennessee and northern Alabama, raised more than $231,000 through the grocer's annual "Round-Up" campaign in support of the United Service Organization (USO), surpassing the Division's $200,000 goal by more than $31,000.

From June 24 to July 7, Kroger customers rounded up purchases to the nearest dollar, the difference benefitting the USO, which provides financial assistance to brave service men, women and their families.  Customers also participated in other patriotic activities such as filling out postcards for troops serving overseas.

Established in 1941, the USO, a nonprofit, congressionally chartered organization, supports American troops in combat, as well as military personnel on local bases, the National Guard, Guard Reserves, and other personnel providing humanitarian aid.
