GARDEN CITY, GA (WTOC) - Contractors for Georgia Department of Transportation have scheduled construction on the roadway and railroad crossing on State Route 307/Dean Forest Road in Chatham County.
State Route 307/Dean Forest Road will be closed at the railroad crossing between State Route 21/Augusta Road and Commerce Boulevard/Export Circle and detoured traffic from 8 a.m., Sunday, July 29 and continuing through Tuesday, August 28, weather permitting.
The detour routes are as follows:
- Motorists traveling southbound on S.R. 21/Augusta Road will be detoured to Exit 8/Bay Street/Garden City; take Exit 8 then turn right onto S.R. 25/Burnseed Boulevard toward U.S. 80; turn right on U.S. 80; continue on U.S. 80 to the intersection of S.R. 307/Dean Forest Road; turn left to continue southbound on S.R. 307/Dean Forest Road; turn right to continue North on S.R. 307/Dean Forest Road up to road closure.
- Motorists traveling northbound on S.R. 307/Dean Forest Road will be detoured right onto U.S. 80; continue on U.S. 80 to the intersection of S.R. 25/Burnseed Boulevard; turn left on to S.R. 25/Burnseed Boulevard; turn left to merge onto S.R.21/Augusta Road; at the intersection of S.R.21/Augusta Road and S.R. 307 turn right to continue northbound on S.R. 307.
- S.R. 307 will remain open to local traffic up to work zone.
Motorists will be able to access businesses, schools, and residents in the area, but is urged to drive carefully and stay alert as they travel through this area and use alternate routes if possible.
