Police: Man shot trying to break up fight

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Savannah-Chatham Metro Police are looking for someone who shot a man Tuesday night near 38th and Ash streets.

Police said that Larry Briggs was shot while trying to break up a fight between a group of juveniles. Officers interviewed several witnesses who told them that a large group of juveniles were fighting in the street when Briggs tried to intervene.

Police said that's when an older man, not involved in the original altercation, apparently shot him. Briggs was taken to the hospital by a relative.

Police were called just after 6:30 p.m. Tuesday to Memorial University Medical Center after Briggs showed up at the emergency room with a gunshot wound. He's in serious condition.
