About 10:45pm last night, officers were called to a vacant house near the corner of 39th and Jefferson Street in Savannah where neighbors reported the body of man had been found. When police went inside, they discovered a decomposing body. Sources say it appears the man had been dead for at least three days.
Detectives say it's too early to tell how the victim died, but relatives at the scene were quick to assume foul play. A tentative identification has been made, but the name of the victim has not yet been released. The body was taken to the GBI crime lab in Atlanta for an autopsy and to make a positive ID.
At this point, detectives are handling the case as a homicide. Anyone with information about this death is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 234-2020.
