Local Vets React to WWII Memorial

The opening of the World War II Memorial is an event that will be remembered for years to come. Many veterans from right here in the Coastal Empire are also marking the opening of the monument. Veterans from the American Legion post in Thunderbolt got together yesterday afternoon to spend a little time with their friends and watch the ceremony on television.

More than half a century after World War II, they say it's an honor to finally see the veterans of the war being recognized with their own memorial. "It's a way of remembering these men and women who made sacrifices," said post commander Leon Leach. "These sacrifices they made allow us to have what we have today."
