Coastal Empire veterans are remembering those who gave their lives for their country. Veterans and their families held a candlelight vigil last night in Emmett Park to honor those killed during the Vietnam War. These veterans hold the ceremony to give loved ones a chance to remember their heroes and to pay their respects.
At the end of the service, they read the names of every local soldier killed in the Vietnam War.
"We'd just like to recognize our service members," said James Caldwell of Vietnam Veterans of America. "Some gave all, these guys on this memorial, they gave all. Those are the guys that need to be recognized."
The Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 671 holds the ceremony every year.
