Dozens came out to Savannah's Bonaventure Cemetery this morning for a Memorial Day service. The ceremony was hosted by the American Legion Post 154 from Tybee Island to remember veterans from all branches of the armed forces who fought for our country.
Many say today is a time of reflection, not just for Americans, but for people all over the world. "Everyone should stop and think and pray today for those who have passed away and especially for those veterans who worked hard to make sure we have freedoms, not only for this country, but the entire world," said former Savannah alderman Pete Liakakis, in attendance for the ceremony.
This service is held every year in Bonaventure. Veterans and active-duty military also meet every Memorial Day weekend to clean up the military graves in the cemetery.
