School's out, but the hard work is just beginning at East Broad Elementary School, where there's a cyclone fence completely surrounding it.
You might remember, last year traces of lead and arsenic were found on the school's playground and at Matilda Beasley Park next door. The levels are not toxic. This summer, the soil at both locations is being removed, so clean soil can be brought in.
But now some residents are complaining about how the area looks. "It's a total eyesore," said neighbor Jeff Roth. "I didn't notice it until I was like in the office bathroom and I said, 'Oh my God, what have they done?'"
The soil cleanup project should be completed by September.
