DOUGLAS COUNTY, GA (CBS46) -

An Atlanta man, with two young children in his car, lead Austell police on a chase that ended in a three-car crash in Douglas County.

Five people were injured, including both kids. Tavvorious Thompson, 11, was taken to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta Scottish Rite with serious injuries. Treveion Thompson, 5, went to Grady.

Austell police began chasing a Chevy Aveo, driven by Jeremiah Mathis, 30, of Atlanta late Thursday night.  Mathis had outstanding warrants on him from two different counties, although the specifics remained unclear Friday morning.

The crash ended in Douglas County at Thornton Road and Maxham Road when the Aveo struck a Chevy Avalanche. The Avalanche flipped and rolled into a third vehicle.

"I seen the Avalanche fly through the air," said Donnie Gaylor who witnessed the crash.

Mathis, the two kids, and a third adult passenger, Latasha Williams, were all injured.

The driver of the Avalanche was treated and released. Marthe Douze rushed to the scene because she's a relative of the Avalanche's driver.

"This is awful; I just can't tell you," said Douze shaking her head.

It was unclear if anyone in the third vehicle was injured.

Mathis remained at Grady as of late Friday morning.
