Community honors soldiers at Dinner Date Night

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Members of the Isle of Hope Baptist Church honored area soldiers with a special celebration on Saturday. Dinner Date Night for the Troops took place to remind soldiers how much they are appreciated in the community.

"We here at Isle of Hope Baptist just really thank our military that give us this freedom," said Billy Miller, pastor of Isle of Hope Baptist.

Congressman Jack Kingston served as the keynote speaker. WTOC's Sonny Dixon was also a guest speaker at Saturday night's event.

The death of a four year old led Emanuel County investigators to arrest the mother and her boyfriend for drug charges. They could face felony murder counts, depending on results of the child's autopsy.
