Double Bank Robbery Suspect Caught

A suspected bank robber is behind bars. Police arrested 57-year-old Edgar James, Jr., around 5pm yesterday. They picked him up at a Savannah homeless shelter and brought him to Precinct One.

Investigators say around 1pm, James walked into the SunTrust Bank on Johnson Square. He handed the teller a note demanding money. After he got the cash, James walked across the street to rob the BB&T. During the robbery, the dye pack from the first bank exploded. James took off without any money.

They're holding him in the Chatham County Detention Center on federal bank robbery charges.
