Meeting about Bomb Range Expansion set for Long Co.

LUDOWICI, GA (WTOC) -

The public can weigh in on a plan to expand the Townsend Bombing Range at a meeting Thursday night in Long County.

A 45-day comment period on the proposed Draft Environmental Impact Statement plan began on July 13 and ends on Aug. 27.
The meeting will take place from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Ludowici City Hall at 469 North Macon St. See a copy of the Federal Register notice and the Draft EIS can be found at: www.townsendbombingrangeeis.com.

Marine Corps and Georgia Air National Guard representatives will be attending the meeting to answer questions and the proposed plans, the Nation Environmental Policy Act Process and the findings in the Draft EIS.

    Protestors in downtown Savannah have surrounded Georgia State Senator Michael Williams' deportation bus and are preventing the bus from moving.  At least one person has been arrested so far.
