Last week, in a special
ceremony at Fort Stewart, Colonel Chris Hughes was promoted to
Brigadier-General. The ceremony was officiated
by Third ID Commanding General, Major-General Robert "Abe" Abrams, with the
star itself "pinned" on by wife, Marguerite Hughes. General Hughes was joined on this very
special occasion by several family members, included sons Patrick and Michael,
both now Army officers, as well as by military service colleagues, past and
present, along with many civilian friends through the years, going all the way
back to high school.
Following a distinguished
Army career, including combat deployments and
assignments including Executive Officer to the Secretary of the Army, and
Chief Army Liaison to the U.S. House of Representatives, Brigadier-General
Hughes currently serves the Third ID as Deputy Commanding General for
Maneuver.
With Division elements scheduled for deployment to Afghanistan, we wish Major-General Abrams and his entire Headquarters Team all the best for a safe and successful tour down-range.
