With the eyes of the world on Savannah, it's the perfect time for the Coastal Empire and Golden Isles to show off that great place we call home. We all know what a great area we live in, and with an estimated 3,500 journalists from around the globe here, the Savannah Area Chamber of Commerce and partners are making sure they know it.
They set up an information booth at the International Media Center to let the out-of-towners know what they should see while they are in town. And since most other tourists chose to stay away from Savannah during the G-8, the chamber is capitalizing on the international visitors.
"Trolley tours, ghost tours and the works, so it's pretty neat," said the chamber's Melissa Yao. "We are also offering a chance for people to get story ideas and really take the chance to say hey, Savannah is pretty neat."
The Savannah College of Art and Design is also offering special tours for the media this week.
