SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Benedictine Military School rededicated Alumni Hall Wednesday night. They have added portraits of every class from 1928 to 2012, dress whites form past decades and the original school sign from 1902.
Benedictine alumni Christopher "Kit" Lowe also donated a Purple Heart. Lowe, an Army soldier, was attached to a Marine unit when he was injured. He said Benedictine officials reached out to him before the Army even did.
"Aug. 7, 2009, my team was ambushed in Kapisa Province, Afghanistan. My team leader was on the rooftop. He was killed. As I was going on the rooftop to pull off a 19-year-old medic who flipped out, I took a round through my thigh. That is how I ended up getting shot. But I saved the kid so at least I got one person alive," said Lowe.
Lowe is also donating his Bronze Star to his alma mater.
