A
Brunswick man is charged with burglary after police and firefighters find him
hiding in a ventilator shaft of a building.
Brunswick
police were called at about 2:24 a.m. Friday to the T & C Pawn Shop in the
3000 block of Community Road after the burglar alarm went off.
Sgt.
Jesse Gibbs saw a suspect inside the shop crawling on his hands and knees so we
wouldn't be seen by surveillance cameras, according to Brunswick police.
Gibbs
told responding police units to set up an exterior perimeter and also requested
a ladder truck from the Brunswick Fire Department to assist the officers in
gaining access to the roof of the business.
Gibbs
and Ofc. James McQuaig searched the roof area and found a shot gun, burglary
tools, and the burglary suspect, who was trying to hide inside an exterior ventilator shaft, according
to police.
David
McCloud Bens, 34, was arrested and charged with burglary (forced entry), possession of burglary tools and possession of a firearm
by a convicted felon.
Bens was taken to the Glynn County Detention Center.
