Police and other officials say things have been running extremely well during the G-8. But yesterday, county manager Russ Abolt said that even though today is the last day of the summit, it's still far from over.
"We go day to day, this has been a reasonably good day," he said. "We were tested a little bit and we passed the test. Tomorrow is extremely important with the president coming back to Chatham County and the City of Savannah. Once he leaves, the community and everything is wrapped, then we'll breathe a sigh of relief. But until then, we're not claiming victory. We're not patting ourselves on the back. The preparation must pay off in our continued vigilance."
President Bush is scheduled to speak in Savannah today at 4pm.
