BLUFFTON, SC (WTOC) - Bluffton Town Manager Anthony W. Barrett announced on Tuesday that a new police chief has been hired.
Joseph M. Reynolds will begin the job on or before Sept. 24.
Reynolds has more than 18 years of police supervisory experience and has spent the last eight and half hears as the police chief in Lenoir, N.C., according to the town of Bluffton.
Reynolds was selected from 139 applicants. Three of the finalists went through a two-day process that included meeting with senior staff, meeting with a citizen panel and being interviewed by elected officials.
"Chief Reynolds has the professional background and leadership qualities" he was looking for to run the department and that "he will relate very well with our community values," Barrett said in a statement.
Reynolds' annual salary will be $98,900.
