The Alma Police Department is searching for a suspect who robbed a
Family Dollar on Aug. 25.
Police say just minutes before closing time at 9 p.m., a man armed
with a silver semi-auto pistol went inside the store located at 902 S. Pierce
St. and demanded money from a cashier. After the cashier told the suspect she did
not have a key to open the register, the man forced the cashier to the store
office and took an undisclosed amount of money. The suspect then left the
office and pointed his gun toward another cashier to open the store safe. Once the
cashier told the robber that he didn't have access to the safe, the suspect
grabbed a Family Dollar money bag from near the cash register and fled.
According to the Alma Police Department, the suspect is described
as a black male about 6'01- 6'03 and weighs between 185-210 pounds. The suspect
also wore all black, including a black t-shirt type of mask over his face.
The police are asking for anyone who shopped at the Family Dollar
between 8:30 p.m. - 9 p.m. on Aug. 25 to contact Alma Police Department at 912.632.8751.
