CLAXTON, GA (WTOC) -

An Evans County family is homeless after a fire destroyed their home on Friday morning.

The American Red Cross Disaster Action Team from Evans County responded at about noon to help the two adults and two children to help the Claxton family.

The fire broke out at a home on Grove Plantation Road.

The Disaster Action Team volunteers provided sheltering, food, a comfort kit of personal hygiene items and clothing to the family.

The Red Cross will be working with the family to replace prescriptions they lost in the fire if they cannot get them replaced themselves.
