Westin to Thank Savannah with Fireworks

Savannah is known around the world for its Southern hospitality, and after the G-8 summit, it's reputation as the Hostess City is perhaps even stronger. All week long, part of the city was illuminated with bright floodlights for the summit. Now, the night sky over Savannah will be lit up with fireworks.

The Westin Savannah Harbor Golf Resort and Spa is putting on a special fireworks display Saturday night. The Westin's manager, Mark Spadoni, says it's a way to say thank you to residents.

"The Westin looked good," he said. "It was obviously the focus of a lot of attention during the G-8. While Savannah looked good, the Westin looked good and it looked good in many ways because the community as a whole came together. This is our opportunity to give back to the community for all their efforts."

You should be able to get a great view of the show from downtown Savannah. The fireworks start this Saturday night, June 19, at 9:30pm.
