HINESVILLE, GA (WTOC) -

Soldiers and their families at Ft. Stewart in Hinesville gathered Tuesday for a 9-11 ceremony in the main chapel. While remembering those lost 11 years ago, they also paid tribute to all American soldiers and the sacrifices they make for their country.

"They need to hear that from us as a community. Welcome back and thank you for what you've done. The warrior part is behind you. Welcome back to our community," said Chaplain Col. Terry Meek, Ft. Stewart.

Before the ceremony, cannons were fired four times, signifying each crash at the twin towers, the Pentagon and in Shanksville, Pa.
