SPRINGFIELD, GA (WTOC) -

Two men have been charged in connection with a spice drug bust by the Effingham County Sheriff's Drug Suppression Team.

Investigators got a tip that a large amount of spice was going to be delivered on Aug. 30 to a home on Springfield Tusculum Road. A drug operation was launched, and investigators got a search warrant.

Investigators discovered 75 packets of spice that had been ordered online, according to the Effingham County Sheriff's Office. The homeowner, Jason Hinely, 37, of Springfield, ordered the spice online and was selling it in the area, according to the sheriff's office.

Hinely was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute and unlawful use of a communication device.

Robert Sandy Mallard, 21, of Newington, tried to contact Hinely to buy spice.

Investigators set up a drug buy, and Mallard was also taken into custody. He was charged with attempt to commit a drug related offense and unlawful use of a communication device.
