Humane Society Discounts Pets

They're fun, loving, and they need good homes. The Humane Society of Chatham County and Savannah is overcrowded with dogs and cats, and they're hoping you will help them out.

"Right now, we're really straining at the seams," said Humane Society Executive Director, Robert Lee. Part of the reason for the overcrowding problem is the season. It's summer, and now people are realizing the pets they dearly love, they can no longer care for.

"We're trying to find homes for the pets that people are dropping off because they're moving. Believe it or not, we've had people turn in pets just because they're going on vacation," exclaimed Lee.

Now near maximum capacity, these animals are literally falling over each other for affection. "This is their last chance. The Humane Society isn't a home for unwanted pets, our job is to try and get them placed in homes where they'll be cared for the rest of their lives."

If you'd like to adopt a pet, the Humane Society is holding special discount rates for adult dogs and cats, over one year of age. It's one third off the total adoption package -- including spaying or neutering, vaccinations, and micro chip identification. The discounted adoption fees for dogs over one year old will be $75.00. For cats over a year old, the fee is $60.00. The discounts run through the end of July.

The Humane Society of Chatham County and Savannah is located at 7215 Sallie Mood Drive, Savannah. The phone number is (912) 354-9515.
