Police chief issues statement on Labor Day Weekend shootings

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Savannah-Chatham Metro Police Chief Willie Lovett issued a statement on two fatal shootings incidents that happened over Labor Day Weekend.

On Sept. 1, 30-year-old Michael Biancosino and 21-year-old Emily Pickels were found dead in a crashed car at about 4 a.m. at the Frazier Homes apartments on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard near Henry Street.

Police say they were passengers in a white Buick driving west on Henry Street when multiple shots were fired at it. The Buick crashed through a brick fence at the Frazier Homes apartments on MLK Blvd. near Henry St.

Police are looking for a small, light-colored or metallic car that was in the area sometime the night of Aug. 31 or the morning of Sept. 1. SCMPD would like to talk to anyone who owns the car, may have been an occupant or knows anything about the car or its location.

Chief Willie Lovett issued this statement Friday: "Neither Emily Pickels nor Michael Biancosino were involved in any wrong doing as far as police know."

In another case, detectives believe that a River Street shooting on Sept. 2 that left Tiyates Lamont Franklin, 19, dead was an ongoing dispute that Franklin and another man.

Police are still searching for the woman for questioning who was captured on surveillance video. Police said they believe the woman man have seen the gunman.

Violent Crimes detectives are investigating by both shootings.
