BEAUFORT, SC (WTOC) -

Beaufort police are asking for the public's help in finding a gunman who robbed Emily's Restaurant on Sunday.

They released an image captured by a surveillance camera from a nearby business of the suspect in hopes that someone can identify him.

Beaufort police were called at about 12:30 p.m. Sunday to Emily's Restaurant at 906 Port Republic St.

A worker told police that he and another employee were preparing to open the restaurant that day when a man came into the restaurant through an unlocked rear door.

The suspect was armed with a silver semi-automatic handgun and confronted the employee and demanded money. The worker handed over cash and the suspect took off with cash, a cell phone and a bottle of vodka.

The suspect is described as a white male of medium height with a slightly heavy build. He had long dirty blond hair and was clean shaven. He was wearing baggy jeans and a black T-shirt. Police said he's considered armed and dangerous.

Anyone with information on this case is requested to contact Investigator Erdel at 843.322.7958 or the 24-hour dispatch office at 843.524.2777.
