For the first time since his son's funeral, the father of Sgt. Bobby Crapse is speaking out.
Stephen Crapse says his family has been struggling to pick up the pieces and move on with their lives since the sudden and tragic death of his son.
"Being able to function everyday is a plus. I hope she learns from her mistake," said Crapse.
But the family is finally getting some hope after Patricia Collins was indicted on two counts of first degree vehicular homicide, DUI less safe, and DUI unlawful alcohol concentration.
State troopers say Collins struck Crapse's patrol car head-on while she was driving drunk on the wrong side of I-95 on June 15.
"I wish before she did what she did, she would have called somebody," said Crapse. "She's turned a lot of people's lives upside down."
Collins is expected to turn herself into the Chatham County Jail early Friday morning.
Crapse leaves behind his wife and three children.
