AMERICUS, GA (WTVM) -
A Sumter County toddler is in the hospital after getting shot in the chest with a high-powered pellet gun Thursday night in Smithville.
Two-year-old Levi Umanzor is in a Macon Hospital and is said to be improving.
Authorities said the child's 17-year-old uncle was firing the gun, to empty the pellets, when Levi rounded a corner of the house and was hit.
He suffered a punctured lung and stopped breathing, but was resuscitated by paramedics.
