Bloomingdale man arrested after meth lab bust

BLOOMINGDALE, GA (WTOC) - Effingham County Sheriff's deputies have arrested a man after discovering a methamphetamine lab at his residence in southern Effingham County. Authorities discovered an active meth lab on Sept. 21 along with several bags of methamphetamine at a residence on Withlacoochee Ave.

Authorities say Benjamin Groover, 42, of Bloomingdale, was arrested and charged him with manufacturing methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug related objects, and unlawful possession of pseudoephedrine.

The arrest was a result of an ongoing operation conducted by the Effingham County Sheriff's Office Drug Suppression Team. Additional arrests are expected during the ongoing investigation.

Groover, who has an extensive criminal history and has served time in prison for manufacturing methamphetamine, is currently being held in the Effingham County Jail.
