SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Savannah-Chatham Metro Police say a man is dead and another charged with murder after a fight between two homeless men sent both into the Savannah River Friday night.

The body of Willie Miller, 42, was discovered under a floating dock around 11:20 p.m. after a search by Savannah Fire Dept. divers.

SCMPD later located Michael Myers, 34, a few blocks away. He's charged in connection with Miller's death.

According to authorities, witnesses said Miller had been drinking and following Myers and another homeless man in the boardwalk area off River St. The two men became involved in a scuffle and both fell over the railing at the edge of the river walk into the water beside a floating dock.

Myers was able to climb out of the water but police, firefighters, U.S. Coast Guard and Department of Natural Resources officers searched the area for several hours before Miller's body was found.
