SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) - Life of Living Independence for Everyone, an organization aimed at helping the disabled, held their annual wheelchair cleaning event today in Savannah.
The organization provided entertainment, snacks, free blood pressure checks, and plenty of helpful information about how to become more independent, all while doing tune ups on visitors wheelchairs and scooters.
"It is fantastic," said Patricia Heagarty, who has been helped by the organization.
"If it wasn't for this organization, I would be stuck in a nursing home. They go out of their way to help the disabled, allowing us to be independent, to feel human. I can't say enough good things."
Life of Living Independence for Everyone also offered free engraving for wheelchairs and other personal items in case the items are ever stolen.
