Family wants justice on anniversary of firefighter's murder

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Three months after 21 year old Wesley Franklin was murdered in Sandfly, his family is still searching for answers.

"It has been difficult for the family. Any parent who loses a child knows it is so hard to imagine. It was so quick and senseless. We need justice," Wesley's father Jim Franklin said.

Franklin was with friends at Deb's Pub and Grub in Sandfly on June 25th when police say an armed robber fired a shot in the parking lot.

Friends say the bullet went into the bar and hit Wesley right in the heart.

"It doesn't get any easier and it is not going to get any easier. I talk to Wesley everyday and have to keep with the fight because he was a fighter," Wesley's sister Jaymee Franklin said.

Soon after the murder, police released surveillance video of the suspect.

Friends and family said at the time they were confident someone would be caught because the quality of the video was good.

But three months later, and police still haven't made any arrests.

"It is very frustrating. The video is clear...the person has distinct features. Someone must know something," Wesley's father said.

Detectives would not comment on the investigation, but stressed they are working diligently to find the killer.

A reward for information is already up to over $10,000.
