Friends: Amber Deloach was always smiling

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Friends from St. Vincent's Academy says Amber Deloach was always smiling and a joy to be around.

"She reminded me of my twin sister...so unique. We were all best friends. She was such an amazing friend," Willa Buoy said.

Buoy went to St. Vincent's High School with Deloach.

Just after 6:30 a.m. Sunday, Savannah Fire was dispatched to an area just off of Oglethorpe Avenue in the Yamacraw Village Housing Complex after receiving calls of a vehicle on fire.

During the process of extinguishing the flames, Deloach's body was discovered in the  Dodge sedan. SCMPD Detectives were called in to investigate and a crime scene was established.

An autopsy was performed Monday morning. Police say detectives will be investigating this as a homicide, and are continuing to follow leads.

"This has made us think we all need to be careful and think about what we're doing and who we hang out with. We need to make sure we're making the right decisions," Buoy said.

Buoy said Deloach went to St. Vincents, but then transferred to Islands High School. She says it was around that time they grew apart and Amber began hanging with a different crowd.

Anyone with information on this case or the whereabouts of Amber Deloach on the night before her death is asked to call Crimestoppers at (912) 234-2020 or text CRIMES (274637). In the body type, include "CStop2020" plus the tip. Tipsters remain anonymous and may qualify for a cash reward.
