Memorial service scheduled for teen found in burning car
SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -
Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police are continuing to investigate the death of Amber Deloach as a homicide.
Deloach was found dead just after 6:30 a.m. Sunday morning inside the trunk of a black, Dodge Avenger after people living in Yamacraw Village saw the sedan in flames, near the intersection of Oglethorpe Avenue and West Boundary Street.
The Savannah Fire Department says the fire was started by someone stuffing a burning rag inside the vehicle's gas tank door.
An autopsy on Deloach's body has been performed but the results are not yet being released.
Meanwhile, a memorial service for the 18 year old is scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday at St. James Catholic Church. Visitation begins at 5 p.m.
The Deloach Family is asking remembrances be made to 'The Amber Nicole Deloach Scholarship Fund' set up at St. Vincent's Academy, 207 E. Liberty Street, Savannah.
