Bridge over Thick Creek closed due to fire caused by meth lab
CLAXTON, GA (WTOC) -
A bridge over Thick Creek on Daisy Nevils Highway was shut down Sunday after a mobile meth lab was thrown out of a moving car and ignited a pylon under the bridge.
Claxton fire fighters reported to the scene around 10 a.m. Sunday morning and put out the fire. Once the fire was out, officials on the scene discovered chemicals associated with mobile meth labs and called in a HAZMAT crew to further investigate.
Authorities are waiting for Department of Transportation officials to give an all clear to re-open the bridge. There is no word on if Thick Creek itself has been contaminated by the meth lab.
