The University of South Carolina Beaufort now has more to offer students in the Low Country. Community leaders gathered at Palmetto Electric as university officials announced USCB has now earned full accreditation as a baccalaureate institution.
The school currently offers six four-year degrees, but it's hoping this new accreditation will open the doors for more degrees such as Spanish, biology, psychology and history.
"This is a very last milestone in a very long journey and we're very excited to pass that milestone," said USCB president Dr. Jane Upshaw.
USCB will open a new campus near Sun City in the fall.
