Driver charged after shooting, chase

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Two men are in the hospital after an argument escalates into a shooting and then a chase with police on Wednesday afternoon.

Darvin Morris, 28, is charged with aggravated assault, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

Just after 1 p.m. Wednesday, police were dispatched to 39th and East Broad streets after receiving reports of a shooting. Albert Jones, 28, was found with at least one gunshot wound.

Witnesses told police they heard gunshots and saw Morris driving off in a four-door sedan.

Police said Morris and Jones had been arguing and physically fighting minutes before the shooting. A lookout was placed on the green car and he was located and apprehended by Port Wentworth police after chase. Port Wentworth police said after the chase they found a gun from the car. 

Morris was injured in a crash after a chase with police in Port Wentworth. He also faces several traffic charges out of Port Wentworth. 

Morris and Jones were taken to local hospitals.
