AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) -
On the door of the mobile home where
deputies discovered 22-year-old Robin Adam's body, there was a notice Monday, a
reminder of what deputies found Friday.
"It's hard to believe, to just
have this right here on James Drive. You see it on TV every day and you hear it
about it in movies and stuff, for this to happen it's devastating," said
neighbor Georgia Golden.
According to investigators, Adams had
been dead for so long, his body was beginning to mummify.
Investigators say Adams had a variety
of medical conditions which caused him to function as an invalid with the
mental capacity of an infant.
His mother, Angela Mercer and his
sister, Deaidra Motley were arrested and charged with concealing his death.
At the home we found a Dispossessorary
Affidavit stating Mercer owes close to a thousand dollars after falling behind
on rent for four months. We reached out to the landlord and received no
response.
Mercer must appear at the Judicial
Center or respond to the court by next Monday, according to the affidavit.
Golden said from now on she'll check in
with her neighbors more often, "We need to watch our people that we see every day,
like my neighbor next door. After so many days I'll inquire about him so we
need to inquire about each other and make sure they're safe in their
homes."
The Richmond County Coroner's Office says the autopsy on
the body should be completed in three to four weeks. When those results are in,
investigators say there could be more charges.
