The third annual McGladrey Classic will tee off Thursday and host Davis Love III has assembled a great field. It includes the usual locals like Savannah native Brian Harman. There's also 10 major winners including Sea Island's Davis Love III.
What is it about this tournament that attracts this kind of field in the fall? "First, it must be the weather," said Love. "We have been really blessed the last three years with great weather. It's a great place for people to bring their families and a great tournament on a great golf course. It's a good time of year for a nice relaxing down home southern event. The guys really enjoy it."
What are your goals this weekend? "I don't get in a tournament I don't think I can win," said Harman. "I've been preparing all week. I took last week off to get ready for this week and I'll just try to not put too much pressure on myself. I like playing well in front of everyone I know so we'll see how it goes."
Where is your game right now? "It's pretty good," said Harman. It's not exactly where I want it to be. I've probably been doing a little bit too much hunting lately, so I've been working hard to get I back to where it needs to be."
Harman will tee off at 7:55 on number 10 and be playing right in front of the group headed by Love and includes Zach Johnson and defending champion Ben Crane.
And, of course, tournament keeps it's commitment to the armed forces as retired and active personnel get in for free. All you need to do is show up with that military ID.
