First Jerusalem Missionary holds annual Friends and Family Day

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

The First Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church held their annual Friends and Family Day Sunday.

The event is meant to not only bring together members of the church and their extended families but also help feed the homeless in the area.

Around 2,000 peple attended the event which was full of food, music and fun. The pastor of the church, Pastor Gregory Tyson, says it gives the members a chance to reach out to the community.

"It's just good to see them happy, you know a lot of times, in the actual church service people are praying for different things in their lives," Tyson said.

"You know times are hard now and it takes away the tears a little bit, god gives us the opportunity to enjoy one another, take away some tears and add laughter, that's good for the soul."

First Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church helps the community in many different ways throughout the year.
