For Coastal Empire soldiers, today was a time to relax and enjoy family. Many gathered at Fort Stewart for the annual Marne Day celebration. Traditionally held near the Fourth of July, the party offers food, games and a day of relaxation for soldiers.
Organizers from the Department of Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) say soldiers earned a day of fun.
"It gives soldiers time to bond with each other, relax and have fun and friendly competition between units and get out and celebrate the Fourth," said Nancy Gould with Third Infantry Division's MWR.
Marne Day wrap up tonight with a fireworks display.
